the sky was a pink dream

By STELLA RUSSO | Published: May 16, 2010

we watched the ocean
rushing in
white caps just below the tree tops
drowning the valley

beautifully strange and frightening
sort of like us but fully prepared
for the sky to come down
with one good slam

nothing but a perfect shame
to pass our time with

it’s the company you keep
years of it
we are solitary
not confined to a lesson

the brightest day already behind us

this redemption
such a process it's almost pointless
